Women of VISE
(Vanderbilt Institute of Surgery and Engineering)

As a part of the Women of VISE since its formation in 2017, I've loved watching the group grow. Through social gatherings, workshops on mental health, and events on navigating work environments, we focus on building community while connecting with others in science, medicine, and engineering. Our events are attended by VISE undergraduates, grad students, post docs, medical students, residents, faculty and clinicians.

Some of my favorite events are our "Coffee Talks" and the annual Wikithon. A few times per semester, we invite successful females in STEM to talk about their career path, personal lives and/or give advice. In 2019, we hosted our first annual Wikithon to address the Wikipedia gender gap, as only 18.61% of biographies written in English are about women.
